David Ten Cate
David Ten Cate graduated from Calvin College in 1987. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School, and was admitted to practice law in the State of Michigan in 1991. Ten Cate’s law practice focused primarily on real estate, small business, and transactional and collection litigation. Ten Cate obtained his Michigan real estate broker’s license in 2002, and while working for a local commercial real estate brokerage and development client. In that capacity, Ten Cate oversaw all real estate transactions for that client, and reviewed listing and marketing materials, purchase agreements, due-diligence reports, and closing documents. In April of 2004, Ten Cate and Michael Teeter co-founded Capstone Real Estate, LLC.
Ten Cate is a member of the Grand Rapids-based Commercial Alliance of Realtors, the West Michigan Lakeshore Association of Realtors, the Michigan Association of Realtors, and the National Association of Realtors. Ten Cate has obtained the coveted Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation, which designation required both extensive experience in the commercial real estate market and the completion of course work and passing a comprehensive examination. The CCIM designation is the most widely-recognized commercial and investment real estate designation in the country. Only 9,000 CCIMs exist world-wide, with fewer than 150 located in Michigan.
Ten Cate has served on the Boards of Directors for a number of corporations, and has served as a member of the Administrative Board (and the Treasurer) of Second Christian Reformed Church of Grand Haven. Ten Cate lives in Grand Haven Township with his wife Mary and their three children.
